It wasn't too long ago that we could walk on our mountains and surroundings in Cape Town with not too much of a worry. Sadly over the years there has been a increase in violent crimes taking place within the Western Cape, especially for outdoor users in exposed areas. There are various social reasons for the spike in these crimes, but, with under resourced law enforcement there is an ever increasing need for community involvement in crime prevention.
On Saturday the 16th August we took part in a high visibility walk with SAPS, NHW and TMNP rangers to help show presence in one of the major crime hotspots, Kleinplaas Dam above Simons Town. A good excuse to enjoy part of Cape Towns untouched TMNP reserve and also a chance for Litchi to show off some of her trailing skills, good work Litchi!
